Space Bump

The Space Bump is a ride in West Edmonton Mall’s Galaxyland, formerly known as Kiddie Bumper Cars when the park was named Fantasyland. The ride opened in 1985 when the park was first unveiled.

The Space Bump is a space-themed children’s bumper car ride. The ride consists of only four cars, each with a single rider capacity, and therefor has a limited capacity of only 4 persons. Riders must be between 38” and 56” in height, and tall enough to reach the pedals.

The ride is popular among the young crowd, and is ideal for those who have not graduated to the larger bumper cars in the park: Cosmo’s Space Derby.

The ride has resided in its current location for the entirety of its existence. As the ceiling of the ride provides power to the cars, its likely if the cars ever required relocation, they would instead be removed altogether. This is speculation, of course.
