The Thunderbolt, formerly named White Lightning, was a slide in West Edmonton Mall’s World Waterpark.

The slide opened along with the rest of the park in 1986 as White Lightning. Throughout its life it received several paintjob updates, a name change, and some updates to the pool (a barrier was added to prevent collisions between sliders).

Sliders would slide down one of two straight slides on a thin raft-type sled, gaining speed. At the end of the slide, sliders would leave the slide and skim along the splashdown pool before coming to a stop… either by simply losing speed, or by losing left/right balance and experiencing a wipeout into the water.

The slide was removed in 2014 to make wave for the surfing simulator, the Tsunami Flowrider.
