Galaxyland, not to be confused with Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro, was the World’s Largest Indoor Amusement Park. Located in West Edmonton Mall, it operated between 1995 and 2022.
The park’s theme was a result of the requirement to move away from the Fantasyland name – the decision of a 1994 legal dispute between Edmonton-based 555 Corporation and Disney. The park was revamped into a cartoony, space theme featuring mascots Cosmo the Alien and Twink the Star.
In 2015, construction began on an expansion of the Mall’s Palace Casino (Starlight Casino), located directly above the amusement park. This expansion resulted in the forcing the relocation of the Carousel and Flying Galleon to other locations in the park, which in itself resulted in the permanent removal of the Solar Flare and the Kiddie Convoy.
In 2019, a licensing deal with Hasbro was announced, re-theming the park into Galaxyland Powered by Hasbro and beginning the process of applying ride re-skins to all attractions within the park.
