Palace Casino

West Edmonton Mall’s first casino was the Palace Casino located on the second floor of Phase Two. The casino was obtained by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited in 1999, and saw an immediate renovation which doubled its size.

The casino had over 600 slot machines spread over two floors, various table games, a high roller section, and the Aces Grill restaurant.

A section of the casino looked out over Galaxyland. However, visitors to the amusement park typically did not realize the casino was there, as the casino’s view was obscured with the use of two-way mirrors.

In 2015, Gateway Casinos announced that they were investing 45-million dollars into a complete renovation of The Palace Casino, which resulted in its closure, and subsequent reopening under the rebranded banner of The Starlight Casino.
